YoKa is a collaborative fitness and wellness platform that brings the benefits of ancient martial arts such as Kalaripayattu to the world’, in an attempt to keep the arts from dying.
My major project for the Design Management program that I had enrolled in at George Brown College from 2021-2022 involved the proposal of an online platform called YoKa (Yoga + Kalari, Kalari being an ancient Indian martial art form that is said to be the best in the world). For the project, positioned ourselves as Design Managers for the product that we came up with. This project is very close to my heart as I was awarded the 'Best Design Management Process' at the Year End Show of the School Of Design, GBC.
YoKa is a hybrid collaborative app that uplifts Kalaripayattu and other regional art forms by making them available to a global stage, eliminating the geographical and awareness barriers that these art forms once faced.
"Indian martial art practitioners need a way to create and maintain awareness of these art forms because the number of practitioners are declining annually by 30% world wide."
I formulated a Business Case for YoKa, that included the:
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, BUSINESS OVERVIEW, KPIs, MARKETPLACE OPPORTUNITIES , BUSINESS MODEL, COST STRUCTURE, PROJECT TIMELINE & WBS, THE CONCEPT.
After approval of the Business Case by the client, I moved on to formulating the Creative Brief for my team:
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, INSIGHTS, DESIGN PROJECT OBJECTIVES, SCOPE OF WORK & PROJECT PLAN
